Hi, love your video, thanks! I have the same X550, did the ssd, memory to 10 and ofcourse a Linux os, fast as lightning now..
Hi linda thanks for this video. I have one questions, did u upgrade the bios to be able to upgrade to windows10 (from win8)? My graphics drivers are only working for windows8, not for windows10.
This is a fantastic video!
Thanks for the video. I've X550C, which I think the next model of your own; the battery is out, and the hard drive and the RAM are reachable from out.
Anyway, I checked a website; https://www.instructables.com/id/Upgrading-Asus-X550C-and-CA-Series-Laptop-RAM/, which said The RAM can be upgraded only to 10gb, while you upgraded your own to 16gb. I don't know if it would work the same on mine
I just upgraded my Lenovo core I3 with 500 GB hard drive to a 500 GB ssd
it took me about a mint to trun on and after I installed my SSD 500 Gb it took only 15 seconds to turn on , thank for the video
I have a similar model, the F550JK that I still use daily. I was surprised to see how un-serviceable the X550 is, since the F550JK has all of the parts you changed accessible without taking the computer apart (there's a lid above the hdd and another above RAM, with 1 screw for each, and the battery comes out from the outside). The battery died long ago but I still get good use out of the system after having replaced the included HDD with an SSD, like you.
I love this upgrade.. I also has Asus x550d I didn't know it can handle 16gb of ram.. That's a new knowledge to me. Lol. The problem with my laptop is its burning hot but it doesn't shutdown lol.. Any remedy for this? Maybe a white silicon thermal paste Will do but it's hard to find nowadays lol
How come you were able to upgrade to 16GB RAM when the max supported is 10GB?
I have X550CL.
Laptops are so pricy now! So glad I could bring life to my old asus. If you just want to go full cheapo like me and add only one extra 4g stick of ram and ssd you dont need to pull the keyboard. It's all accessible from the base pannel! Thanks for the video. I didn't know about cloning.
Too bad you couldn't replace the cpu, but then it would have been a whole different computer LOL. Great job nonetheless.
Great job Linda. Thanks for sharing.
I don't know about Asus laptops, but the HP and Dell laptops that I have owned all had downloadable manuals that gave explicit instructions on how to open the laptop and to change the memory and/or hard drive. By the way, this was an excellent job and demonstration.
You're Carey's sister aren't you? I remember you from a build that he did with you. Great Job on this video!
Nicely done, lil lady.
carey has taught you well good job
Well done Linda!
I probably would not have bothered going from 8GB to 16Gb ram, but hey it's your machine.
The SSD made all the difference to the times (Well they are about 5 times faster than a mechanical drive)
Ladies, if you think your lappie wants improving, follow Linda's tips.
Primarily, take your time and do the research before picking up the screwdriver
Regards, Tony
Good God ! I thought taking my HP laptop apart was awkward ! ( It was a cheap one as well ) That is a nightmare ! Still it was worth it .. well done
I will add that the video was brilliant .
Awesome !
Thank you, Linda.
Hello Linda might I suggest a guitar pick, easy to open plastic parts of laptops. Those FFC cables are easy to replace, the data cables that you were talking about.
😃
Great vid.
