I buyed last year a Asus X550LB that camed out with 4gb of ram solded to the motherboard.
I had one slot expansion so i decided to upgrade to 8GB, buying 1 module of 4GB.
Thats the process easy process that you need to do to upgrade your ram on your Asus X550 Series Laptop

Hey, my laptop is an asus F550C but on sys. spec. appears that it is X550CC model (is that the motherboard model used?).
It has an i7-3537u and 4GB 1600MHz RAM but i'm not sure it is DDR3 or DDR3L.
CPU-Z doesn't
differentiate between DDR3 and DDR3L and doesn't show the 4GB ram module included in the board on SPD window, so I can't see if it uses 1.35 or 1.5V (as in the video).
I would like to add 4GB more but i'm not sure whether should i buy ddr3 or ddr3l?
*Searching on the internet I've found on some selling websites that the asus F550CC (which I supose is the same as mine) allows to upgrade up to 8GB. It was also specified on those websites that the 4gb module included was DDR3 but I´m not sure that's completely reliable.
*EDIT: On the free slot of the laptop to add the RAM is written: 1.5V DDR3 REV
Does that confirm that just DDR3 is needed?
