Asus Zenbook UX330UA review, plus how to create a system image and recovery disk in Windows 10. Or in other words, a look at my new laptop and how I backed it up!
My Zenbook UX330UA was purchased from Amazon.co.uk:
The most similar model available on Amazon.com appears to be the UX330UA-AH55. This has a more recent i5 CPU, but a 256GB SSD:

Good choice! I have a zenbook UX303 (QHD model from 2016) but now im considering other brands like the lenovo thinkpad due to the limited connectivity and ports function
In the midst of buying another laptop but no issues with the stickers since I wipe it off with alcohol hahaah
I remember the days of dual core I5's but AMD forced Intel to offer 4-6 core I5's now which benefits everyone.
Most DSLR still use the full size SD cards. Although the biggest issue with DSLR's is that very few have USB 3.0 support, which would remove the need to take the SD card out.
"Stupid ideas department". Yes, I'm sure many companies have that, as a dedicated department, just to annoy customers.
Hi Sir,
Hope you will get my message. I would like to buy a laptop and was wondering if you would recommend this model today. Another question, what do you think of the i7 model?
Thank you
That is such a plain box. Plus what puts me off is the power adapter that does not allow an extended cord. I remembered unboxing my Zenbook UX303 and it came with both display and lan adapters. Anyways, your content is absolutely awesome. Reminds me of Information media technology class I attended months ago/previous term 🙂
It is good you got an 'Asus' computer and not an 'Acer' computer, because from my experience with computers, Acer computers are total garbage that break down quickly and won't last.
I had this lap top it was the best lap top ever for a student. Super fast super long batter life wonderful matte no glare screen. I got it because i didnt want an apple product. It got stolen with my back pack 🙁 Now I have a lenovo yoga 730 13 inch and it honestly sucks ass. Shitty battery life, shitty wifi driver that always drops signal and a very dim screen.
If in the future you want to buy a laptop to use Linux on, don't buy a laptop preinstalled with Windows and immediately wipe the drive. It's not worth buying a windows license and then wiping the drive without using the Windows install a lot.
@explaining computers can you answer me a few questions for an interview?
Does that have a backlit keyboard? It looks like the F3 and F4 keys are backlight keys
Thank you. I knew making a backup was important, but I've never seen anyone do it. (anyone I would trust, anyway.) I appreciate what you do.
Wow,, good
Does this laptop accept power delivery
I have nearly the same laptop except: 15.6" screen with Intel 630 Graphics, and 1Tb HDD, and with a total of 4 USB connections (2.0, 3.0, C) and the SD reader is micro. But, for my eyes, I have the silver keyboard to match the silver body except the black surrounding the screen (which I like). I paid $650 [£505.76] Mine is the ASUS Q504UA. [[ I've upgraded mine to 16Gb (max), 2Tb SSDD. ]] What I'm trying to point out is maybe you should have researched a bit better (longer) for a better $$$/£££ deal?
I have Windows 10 and Linux Mint 18.3 installed for a dual boot (I did the same with the 1Tb HDD as well).
Hi ! Can I add an NVME SSD to replace the stock m.2 SSD ?
You didn´t see that the inner structure is not well aligned with the exterior one: 5:24
On my old UX31A, the power key was way harder to press, it needed much more force than all other keys. Is this the case on this model, too?
I'd love to see a video on the Teclast T7 Tbook.
Did you end up putting Linux Mint on the Laptop or are you living with Windows 10 for now?
Do you think you can replace the battery sometime in future?
Asus laptops are good with quality and price. Congratulations for new purchase))
Thank you for all of your videos. Could you please consider making a comparasion video of microservers like dell t30, hp proliant microservers, lenovo thinkservers and others? That would be really helpful.
Does it run Davinci Reslove free? It seems to be picky with GPU. It does not run on my laptop with intel HD integrated graphics 🙁
I have it !!!
I'm surprised Apple's legal team didn't get inflamed over the styling lol 🙂
That power button placement… uuuurghhh
I went through the reviews that I could find on this particular PC and found out after the warranty is pretty much out that the hinges break and it's inherent problem that many owners have complained about to the company. That being said it sure is a pretty computer with the proper power. I suggest anybody interested in these check out the reviews on the hinges.
Hi!
I will build on a NUC. I will run Linux mainly but need windows for some software like Photoshop where there is no real alternative for Linux. What is best, to run Windows in a Virtual box or make a dual boot setup
Keep up your good work, your videos is something I look forward to
It's awesome that even at 51, this guy still gets excited about computer hardware, I want to keep my interest in technology for as long as possible too. But anyways, great review!
it's nice for some low fps gaming.
with a bit of love, you can convert the backup file from windows to a virtual machine (even the for free integrated win10 prof vm),
so even if you completely lose your laptop, you can get to your data 🙂
…enough commenting done for one day 😉
most stickers i came across during my repair&refurbish times were easy to handle with a reasonable added amount of heat.
not like 80°C up, but at 40..50°C surface they went off just fine.
– you wont believe how people handle stuff (3 to 5k hardware) they get to test "for free",
and then rant if they have to pay for cleaning , re-adding lost cables, repairs and repackaging which easily takes 2 hours.
if nothing works, try heat 😉
i dont know if you already have your adapter solution, but from time to time you get displaylink devices under many rebrands.
40 to 50 bucks, the power supply coming with it worth 10bucks because 5V/3Amps or more.
– you dont have to use external power supply if only using usb stick or display ports, but they include hubs, so you might need them for ext HDDs.
the DisplayLink Hardware is also used in PointOfSale industry Hardware, and support (driver/app) for win, linux and mostly android is available.
you mostly get vga, dvi, hdmi, RJ45LAN , sometimes display port.
they are really great for SBCs and if that has usb 3.0 it can be a really fast interface.
(and with "otg to usb" also work for mobile phones, although charging mostly doesn't work if only 1x micro-usb as charger+otg port)
Wall Of Text accomplished 😨
Nice video. Very clear as always. Having just watched your video on storage it is a great follow on. Just to say keep up the good work, and say hello to 'Mr Scissors' & 'Mr Screwdriver', 🙂
