Do not buy ASUSPRO P5440 : Speaking as a Systems Administrator, this laptop had every feature we wanted. It was light, powerful, had good battery life, had a good amount of the right kind of ports, a good display size, and pretty much ticked all of our requirements.
Except that it would suddenly stop working and hang on the boot logo with no way to recover it.
Now I’m not an average user. I’m a professional. I know how to troubleshoot a non-responsive machine, and once it would hang on the boot logo, I could not get it past the boot logo, even with ASUS’s hard reset methods.
What really struck me as odd though is that Ctrl+Alt+Del still rebooted the machine, even when it was hanging, and the Caps Lock key still turned its light on and off.
So naturally, we figured we must have gotten a defective unit.
Returned and replaced.
New unit works for a time, and then has the exact same problem, hanging on the boot screen, with no hope of even getting into the BIOS.
This time, we decide to send it in to ASUS in hopes that they can identify the problem and actually fix it. Maybe a bug in the BIOS or something.
Unit returned with the helpful response, “Add or replace new parts can solve the problem”
Well apparently it can’t, because again after using it for a short time, it again hung on boot on the same logo with no hope of recovery.
If someone at ASUS is reading this, I do still suspect a bug in your BIOS code for this unit. Potentially having to do with the Fast Startup option, since by policy I do disable Fast Startup on all devices. But I have no way of knowing if this is where the bug lies.
At this point though, I am done with this unit. I’m returning it, and going with a different product, and probably won’t go with ASUS again.
Above commend is posted in Amazon by another ASUSPRO P5440 Customer, I am also facing exactly the same issue fighting with ASUS to get refund.
If ASUS is ethical they should not sell this model in market without fixing this issue.

The configuration I'm looking at has a dedicated graphics card though, so I wonder if it can handle some decent games like HOTS.
Here in my country they are offering Asus Pro P5440FA I wonder if it is the same
Thanks for the informative video. For a student’s needs, would you recommend this laptop or a consumer laptop such as the hp envy 13 or asus zenbook (price aside)? Is it true that business laptops have better build quality and last longer?
